The Botanical Garden of Berlin is is one of the largest botanical gardens in the world. It extension is of 43 hectares and it contains more than 20,000 different plant species from all over the world. Among its impresive greenhouses, the Große Tropenhaus is the biggest one of the world. On the first day of the conference, Wednesday 21st of February, there will be the opportunity of attending a guided tour of the Botanical Garden after the talks, in which a guide of the Botanical Garden will show and explain some facts about some of the many plants that are there. The meeting place for those who has successfully registered for the tour will be in front of the Institut für Informatik of the Freie Universität Berlin, at Takustr. 9. From there we will strat walking to the Botanical Garden at 16:45.
Unfortunately, we can only offer a limited amount of places for the tour. This means that the free places will be covered by order of registration, except for applicants that will have preference. The attending and waiting list for the guided tour of the Botanical Garden will be sent the the weekend before the conference. In order to guarantee that the maximum number of people can attend the guided tour of the botanical garden, the entrance ticket (three euros per person for groups) will be self-paid.
The Wine and Cheese is an informal event where applicants, Berlin students and other conference participants can socialize ina relaxed environment. As its name indicates, this social event is accompanied by cheese and wine that has been selected by the organizers for the event. Nevertheless, there will be non-alcoholic options for those conference participants that don't drink alcohol.
The Wine and Cheese will take place at the BMS Lounge in the Technische Universitát Berlin and it will start at 18:30. More information about its location can be found in the venue page and about the schedule in the schedule page.
