TRÄNENPALAST is a history musuem that illustrates the partition of Germany after the war. It locates where the GDR check-in hall at Friedrichstraße was constructed in 1962 to control passengers crossing from East to West Berlin. There you can see: original documents, interviews with contemporary witnesses, biographies and 570 original objects illustrate the history from 1962 to 1990.
For more information, please visit the museum website.
We booked a guided tour in English for up to 40 participants that will start at 16:00 on 22.02.2023. We will be meeting at 15:10 in the front of TU Math Building. Since we will need to take the S-Bahn (3 stops, from S Tiergarten to S Friedrichstraße) to get to the museum, please purchase a ticket for the trip in advance. For those interested, after the tour we will hang around together (in a restaurant, cafe or a bar) to get to know the candidates more and socialize.

Our traditional Wine & Cheese evening is one of the highlights of the BMS year. It's an opportunity for all conference participants (including many current and prospective BMS students!) to socialise in a relaxed environment. As its name indicates, this social event is accompanied by different kinds of cheese and wine that have been selected by the organizers for the event. For those who don't drink alcohol or don't like cheese, there will be non-alcoholic drinks and some other snacks as well.
The Wine and Cheese will take place at the BMS Lounge in the Technische Universität Berlin, starting at 7 pm. More information about its location can be found on the venue page. More information about the schedule can be found on the schedule page.
Every conference participant is invited to join the Wine and Cheese!
